We Cannot Change the Weather

We cannot change our weather. We are reminded of this fact as our land lies parched in 39 degree temperatures, and the crops are dying for lack of rain (Ontario, 1988). Our very source of life, our food supply, depends upon a power greater than that of man.

Unbelieving man shakes an angry fist at a Creator who would force humans to suffer under inclement weather. Yet those who understand the mind and heart of our Almighty God realize He allows it to remind us of our complete dependency upon a power higher than our own. The Bible warns throughout its pages that man must humble himself and repent if he wishes good weather and abundant crops (II Chron.7:13-14). Wars, famines, disease, and earthquakes are foretold for end-times (Rev.6) to remind man that he does not control his world. Why are we then surprised when such events take place?

One year ago, on the morning of June 6, 1987, a Voice awakened me saying, "Prophesy O Son of Dust." I was frightened. I arose to write the unusual message, praying that I would hear only one word at a time so that my own thoughts would not creep into it. This is what I wrote:

"PROPHESY O SON OF DUST! The rains shall cease and the crops shall wither saith the Lord. Yeah, My hand is heavy upon My people. They will not listen as My crops yield grain in abundance--drought and famine must be brought before them to bring repentance to My own. Fear not, My loved ones. The larders of heaven will be more than enough to feed those who believe on My Name. My hand will rescue those I have chosen to be My own. Over the hills My angels are coming with bread to feed you and water for you to drink. Do not fear My beloved ones, the Lord your God is with you. The God of Jacob is your refuge. I have chosen this generation from the beginning of time to witness to those who are lost and who have no hope so that I can redeem you. The time of miracles has come. All who will call upon My name shall be saved from the judgment coming upon the land. My joy shall flow into their hearts and souls in a new flood of blessing. My peace shall reign in their hearts. COMFORT YE, COMFORT YE MY PEOPLE WITH THESE WORDS. THUS SAITH THE LORD."

The purpose of droughts became clear to me. I pray only that Jesus, the "Living Water" will pour down His Spirit upon our parched and hardened hearts to alleviate the spiritual and moral drought in our land. We truly are sons of dust, without power either to create life or sustain it. We were made from dust, and to dust we shall return (Gen 3:19).

Rain reminds us that we must be grateful when God sees fit to bless us with food and water. Without water, we would all die. Without the 'Living Water' we die spiritually. Let us never forget this!

God is still in control of our world. "Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed and the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though the waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof...Be still and know that I am God...I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth" (Ps.46:2-10).
