The book consists of three sections. The first is a brief overview of the author's own experiences in seeking to be an overcomer. The second relates these experiences to the scriptures which initiated her spiritual birth and which have inspired her Christian walk since that time. The third section gives a glimpse into the glorious future promised to those who are willing to hand their crown of self-glory to Jesus Christ to crown Him as Lord and King.

"The River" on the front cover of this book is my expression of the restoration of a broken life. The scene represents the story of Doreen Palmer's life as she relates it in her book.

The scene is a progression of a woman's wounding and grief to a place of cleansing and restoration in the river of true life, Jesus Christ. As the woman in the image chooses to forgive those who have abused her and to worship God regardless of her feeling, she realizes that the majestic hand of an eternal God has always been holding her close to His heart.
