My Hidden Sins

Sin and guilt both love to hide
Underneath my wilful pride.
If only I could know they're there
I'd pray and fast - they'd never dare

To torment me, to cause me anger,
Make me lash out at my neighbour,
Knowing not why him I blame
Although his sin I cannot name.

The unknown sin is here in me,
I must it find to get set free
From lurking guilt which loves to hide
Beneath a face of shameless pride.

Dear Lord, forgive me now I pray,
I must now start a brand new day.
Please help me spot my guilt and pride
Because for them my Saviour died

To make me clean and pure within
Forgiving every lurking sin
For Jesus' blood has covered me
From sin and guilt I can be free.

If I my neighbour I'm to love
With Jesus' kindness from above,
My sin and guilt I'll have to find,
Repent, and leave them all behind.
