The Overcomer's Morning Prayer

Lord Jesus, I call upon You this morning in repentance and humility to help me overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil. Please forgive me for thinking my day can be successful without your help, for such thoughts come from my human pride. I recognize pride as the most dangerous sin of all because pride causes me to believe I am sinless.

I choose this morning to pick up the armour you have provided for your soldiers as recommended in Ephesians 6.

First I ask You to help me place the helmet of salvation firmly in place, that I can rest assured that I am at one with You and with my fellow Christians. Those who have not invited You to live within them, I ask that You speak to them today so they will not be caught up in any New Age or false religion. I ask your kingdom come into every humble heart this day, that the whole world might know of the hope and joy of your salvation. Let every heart be fused to your heart, every spirit to your Spirit. Help me keep my helmet firmly placed over my ears this day to drown out the voices of the world, the flesh, and the devil which ever try to draw me away from You.

I pray for the faith you provide to those who seek You with all their hearts, to those who study your Word faithfully and meet together with fellow believers. May I ever be faithful in doing my part, knowing that You will in return give me a large shield to protect me from the enemy of my soul.

Please help me to understand that my own righteousness is as filthy rags, but your resurrection has provided a way that I might stand before a holy God with my sins forgiven and my guilt all taken away. May I this day not feel condemned in any way as I seek to follow your will in every aspect of my life. You have promised to give me a breastplate of righteousness which no attack of the enemy can penetrate as long as I honestly repent of my sins. I realize that when I sin against my fellow man, I am really sinning against You. So please wipe my sins away with your blood this day that I might remain holy in your sight.

I pray for the belt of truth with which my heavenly armour can be held together. I ask that I learn the truth about who You are, who I am, and who my fellow Christian is. Let no deceiving or lying spirit enter my heart this day.

Please anoint me now with your Holy Spirit that I might wield the sword of your Spirit against all enemy attacks. May I speak your words, and your words only, that all arrows aimed in my direction will not come near me. May they, if undeserved, fall like a fluttering sparrow away from me. May I follow the leading of your Spirit all day, and not be led by my own desires and wishes, then I can be victorious over all the works of the world, the flesh, and the devil.

And may grace, mercy, and peace be mine as I tread through each hour of this day in the shoes of peace you have provided. May my footsteps prepare the way for the salvation of those around me as I listen to your Spirit telling me when to speak of You and when to be silent. Help me remember that You save souls, not me. But if I can be your servant at any appointed time in this work, please give me a holy boldness to speak. Help me to love saint and sinner alike that others may see your glory shining through me, and in this way be an ambassador of peace.

Today I accept your heavenly armour to help me find my way through the darkness which surrounds me. Help me to keep looking up, not down at myself and my problems, then I shall not fall.

I bring these requests to You, and because of your blood which was shed on my behalf, I can rest assured that mercy and forgiveness are mine, and I can have a happy day.
